Sopore village gets mobile connectivity first time



SOPORE, Sep 12: Finally happiness is visible on the faces of residents of Rampura a village in Sopore town who were hitherto cut off from the rest of the world due to lack of mobile connectivity. People in this village have got network signals on their mobile handsets for the first time since the mobile telecommunication was started in Kashmir.

Rampura Rajpora ( Khudgoo Mungluu) forest area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla District was cut off from the rest of the world as no mobile towers were functional in this area. Now Reliance Jio Connectivity started functioning in the area providing a sigh of relief to the people in the area.

The people living in this area were facing serious difficulties due to lack of mobile phone connectivity all these decades. They had to visit Sopore town or any other far off locations whenever they wanted to inform authorities about any emergency service they needed or to call their loved ones.

Sajad Ahamd a local resident told Kashmir Despatch that this is a big achievement for the people living in his villages as for the first time since decades they got mobile connectivity. He said it is a big development for the people living in far flung areas like Rampur.

Muhstaq, a student in the village said it is a sign of relief and thanked the administration for fulfilling its promise for holistic development in the village.

Pertinently, The mobile phone services were launched in Kashmir in 2003 when the then late PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee received the first call from the then state chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed
